About
Metropolis is the traditional Greek house that we have lovingly renovated and modernised on the beautiful, unspoiled island of Ithaca - a 20 minute ferry from Kefalonia.
The house is on the edge of Vathy 100 metres from the waterfront, where you can find a range of local shops, tavernas and bars. Secluded beaches are a 15 minute walk, or a short drive or boat ride away.
The house, built in 1920 in the traditional Ionian 'Venetian' style, is surrounded on three sides by orchards and overlooks the main park in Vathy. There are four bedrooms (2 doubles and 2 x twins), that comfortably sleeps 8 adults. The three bathrooms (one en suite) all have large 'rain head' showers, one with a full sized bath. There are laundry and ironing facilities, plus fast wifi and all main rooms have air conditioning.
The main living area has modern, comfortable sofas, easy chairs and a table. The dining table can extend to seat 10 adults, whilst the kitchen has a brand new induction cooker and is equipped with a wide variety of pans, unique crockery and utensils.
Pool and Gardens
The pool (3m X 7.5m and 1.2m deep), is secluded and looks up to a beautiful view of the surrounding hills, with many sun loungers and comfortable easy chairs in the garden. There are several verandas and seated areas at the front, back and side of the house, and a large patio, well shaded by a very unruly vine in the summer.
The landscaped garden contains olive, lemon, orange, pomegranate and almond trees and is a perfect place to relax by the pool, sunbathe or relax under an umbrella. There are bougainvillea, wisteria, jasmine, oleander amongst many other plants in the garden, and abundant mint, sage and rosemary to aid your barbecues.
This is not a generic holiday villa but one to which we have added our own unique style, set in a little bit of paradise, it is a comfortable place to visit, relax and enjoy.
We think it is heaven on earth, we hope you do too!
